If I've said it once, I'll say it a million times: I love my job. I LOVE MY JOB!!!! It allows me to meet the most diverse, wonderful people, wonderful women. Utterly fierce, smart, funny, beautiful women. Professional women. Moms. Mom-trepreneurs who balance building the best little humans with building a business for themselves. And I get to spend time with them, getting to know them, getting to photograph all that is gorgeous and fierce about them, and create for them images that will tell the world a powerful encapsulated story of who they are. How lucky am I??? This week, I got to capture and tell the story of a woman who is all of the aforementioned, in a series of professional (headshot) portraits that are high energy, high style - and anything but stuffy.
I met the wonderful Janine Triggs Rodriguez of Green Sky Bookkeeping in Brooklyn's DUMBO on an unseasonably warm late January afternoon. Well, it had been warm and sunny all day, but by the time we met the clouds had gathered and the wind had picked up. No matter, gorgeous portraits are made in cloudy weather. And the cool winter light? Even better. It just allowed Janine to shine even brighter.
Our session was laid back, unfolding effortlessly as we walked along the cobblestone streets between the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridge, talking about raising our littles, traveling, working hard AND playing hard. We braved the wind as we climbed onto the Brooklyn Bridge. We giggled as we got whipped by the 'it's still January and freezing' cold, then made our way back down for an outfit change. And by the time we were ready to wrap up? The sun peeked out from beneath the clouds to give us a few beautiful wintery sunset shots. Perfect. Just perfect.
